Rainy Beer Day

Friday – a busy day at work, a rainy day (this year Monsoons haven’t been generous to Delhi so whenever it rains we get ecstatic!) and ‘International Beer Day’ (!). *see www.internationalbeerday.com* This is also the day this joint blog with Rajat on cities went live. So I thought I should celebrate - went to Café Oz in Khan Market with two colleagues and friends of a colleague for beer.

These friends of my colleague were Europeans so we had some mandatory ‘India discussion’ and ‘Delhi monuments’ talk (I ran through my oft-repeated theory how one should see Safdarjung Tomb first, then Humayun’s Tomb and then Taj Mahal, received support from my other colleague). I have had such discussions many times and have sort of an ‘expat fatigue’ now (there are thousands of expats in Delhi!) but then again I appreciate that interest in India is on the rise for many reasons (economic power, spiritual destination, exotic country) and tourism is a big revenue earner for many Indian states.

Fortunately though it rained hard I faced no traffic congestion while driving back (a BIG mercy...) and I also got a nice parking spot (a blessing in these areas of the City). So I am happy – writing the first post for this blog with Vodka-soda&gin and Van Helsing (was he a sardar? sorry! a PJ, the kind you would hear in this city!!) on TV.
